MIXED-Martial Arts enthusiasts will be seeing top-class action in the ring when fighters from Team Visayas battle the best of Mindanao in the Ground and Pound VI “Shockwave” Kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts fights on Dec. 8 at the Cebu Coliseum.
Officials of Yaw-Yan Cebu ArDigma led by Master Benigno “Ekin” Caniga, Jr., promised a must see action for all Cebuano fight fans during the Scoop forum at Baseline restaurant yesterday.
In the main attraction of the kickboxing fights, James “Bisaya” Dabon of the Yaw-Yan ArDigma Cebu City will be up against Freddierick “Jehovah Nissi” Amparado of FKR Philippines for five rounds of the 54-kilo class.
Amparado said during yesterday’s forum that the Mindanao team has a big chance to prevail in the tournament since their team is composed of veteran fighters.
“We came here not to be embarrassed,” said Amapardo.
Dabon, however, countered and said, “If we will not be knocked out then, then they (their nemesis) will be knocked out.”
Adjustments
Amparado, who parades a 7-1 win-loss record and is the best fighter of the group, said they came here earlier than planned to adapt to the climate and also to scout the fighting form of their opponents.
However, Dabon, who has a 6-0 record said that they are not too worried about getting scouted as they are fighting in home soil.
In the other kickboxing fights, Leo “The Golden Boy” Gaerlan of Yaw-Yan Musang, Lapu-Lapu City will clash with Nicanor “The Energizer” Leonard of Black Scorpion Kickboxing Club Talisay City in three rounds, while Argel “The Phantom” Oppus of Arcomjukai Kickboxing Club-Mandaue City will face Dexter “Buakaw” Melon of Muay-Thai Ass’n of the Philippines-Dumaguete City.
Main event
The main event of the MMA fight will feature Cebu’s undefeated kickboxer Ryan “Maximizer” Solana of Yaw-Yan Musang against Mindanao’s pride and Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) campaigner Alcer “D Master of Disaster” Lozada of Butuan City in the 70-kilo class for three rounds. Engie ‘The Destroyer” Piloto of Cebu City Yaw-Yan ArDigma will also face Leo “The Thunder” Filisan of Mindanao Unified Martial Arts in CDO in three rounds in the 65-kilo division.
Piloto said he will not take lightly his opponent since they have also prepared and practiced hard for the tournament. NSM Though he now just trains lightly because of his duties as a policeman, he said he is determined to win since he is also representing the PNP.
Other fights will have Maxlito “Hyper Eagle” Yong, of Lapu-Lapu CityYaw-Yan Musang against Eugene “The Brawler” Yunque of Bacolod Fight Club in Bacolod City; Renan “The Truth” Dioso of Cebu City Yaw-Yan ArDigma against Rio “The Iceman” Patao of MUMA-CDO; Demetrio “D Standard” Dela Torre will face Erwin “The Bomber Man” Neri; Elmer “D Hammer” Jandayan opposite Alan “D Game Plan” Atup; and Vicvic “The Jet” Gesta of C-Mac Kickboxing Club-Mandaue City against Steve “The Wild” Sevilleno five rounds in the 55-kilo.
