Friday, November 30, 2007 Niños plunge into Inter-City action
TOURNAMENT heavy favorite, Cebu City South Niños will play in their first game in the first Cebu Inter-City Basketball Tournament at the Inayawan Sports Complex at 7 p.m.
Cebu will be playing the unpredictable Talisay City Aquastars in the lone offering at Inayawan.
The other game for today will be held at the Lapu-Lapu City Sports Complex with the Lapu-Lapu City Chiefs taking on Danao City also at 7 p.m.
Cebu City South coach Pablo Yu’s selection will be tested against the Aqua–stars who are eager to bounce back from their 69-79 defeat against Bogo City last Saturday.
Yu will rely on his veteran forward Rey Marano to stop the Aquastars’ combination of Leo Dale Caparas and Alejandro Cabañero, who form Talisay’s formidable frontcourt.
Battle-tested Totong Villanueva and Henry Ba-biera will match up against the explosive tandem of Raymund Tabar and Arvie Cabañero of Talisay City.
Talisay lost to the Niños, 94-96, in a non-bearing game last Nov. 17 in Bogo City and picked its official win with an 89-82 win over the Lapu-Lapu Chiefs last Friday at their home court.
The Chiefs, on the other hand, are looking to bounce back from their loss over Talisay City when they host the Danao Pistoleros, who recently came from a win last Saturday. (RCM)
