Sunday, December 02, 2007 Paquiao: Get rid of fat By Calixto Paquaio: Fitness and You
SUPPOSE you woke up one morning and you found your waist and hips had gone fat.
What would be your reaction? Of course, you’d be alarmed and would do something about it. What’s in your mind is to go on a diet to get rid of those extra bulges.
I’m not saying it’s bad to go on a diet if you get fat. What I’m saying is that excess fat is not the problem. It’s a symptom of the problem.
The problem is what makes you gain fat easily. You can call it slowing down of your metabolism, biochemistry hormonal imbalance, etc. You can use any phrase you like, but be sure to concentrate on the internal reasons for you fat not on the external fat itself.
Some people decide to decrease fat through surgery, but I tell you that it won’t correct the real problem.
Yes, you can decrease fat with dieting or surgery, but you cannot totally eliminate the cause why you get fat.
To focus on losing fat without doing something about changing your body’s systemic tendency to get fat is like a person taking antihistamine because he catches colds. It may lessen the symptom of a runny nose, but it doesn’t cure the colds.
Some people, especially woman who are desperate to lose weight, join some wellness centers that offer some weight loss gimmicks, such as wiring the jaws, stapling the stomach and taking laxatives. These are so short-sighted and destructive that I won’t waste time dealing with them.
Other techniques, primarily imbalanced or very low-calorie diet, are very widely used because people lose weight so quickly. Fat loss comes quickly with these diets. But there is also a significant decrease in the amount of body protein as reflected in muscle loss and in the loss of fat-burning enzymes throughout the body. It’s superficial dietary manipulation that overlooks the long-term effects of muscle loss. A person who engages in this kind of diet realizes that his or her fat control becomes more difficult. Over time these people gain fat faster than ever.
Here’s a very effective program to control fat:
1. Do aerobic exercises to enhance the body’s ability to burn fat.
2. Go for a balanced dieting to get rid of the symptoms (excess fat ). Avoid oily food.
3. Include weight training programs to increase fat-burning muscle and give shape for your body and firm it.
A word of advice: If you’re engaged in weight training, don’t stop doing it because it’s the secret of staying shape and strength.
