POLICE in Lapu-Lapu City caught a suspected robber 11 hours after he and two others took the cash and jewelry of a small-time businessman and a businesswoman at gunpoint yesterday dawn.
Ricky Ymbong, 37, reportedly stopped a tricycle along the national highway in Barangay Canjulao and robbed passengers Michael Rosales, 32, and Jesusa Amoin, 38, at 3 a.m. The two were on their way to the public market in Barangay Poblacion.
Armed
Ymbong was allegedly armed with a 10-inch knife, while his two companions had handguns.
After taking the wallets and jewelry of the victims, the culprits reportedly walked towards an interior road.
Hot pursuit
Desk officer SPO2 Nicanor Bacayo said after the robbery was reported at the police station, operatives of the theft and robbery section tried to pursue the culprits.
The team was able to find Ymbong through the help of a civilian asset in Canjulao at past 2 p.m.
They allegedly recovered from Ymbong the empty wallet of Rosales, the knife he used in the robbery and two rolled marijuana leaves.
Bacayo said Ymbong is now detained at the police station pending the filing of separate charges for robbery and possession of illegal drugs against him. (AIV)
