THE Rotary Club of Metro Cebu (RCMC) and its extension club, Rotary Club of Banilad Metro (RCBM), will embark on their very successful project, "Yugyugan sa Dekada ’60, Part 3" on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Teatro Casino at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino (WCCHC). Blast-off time is 7 p.m.
We received a heartwarming note from The Association of Rotary Spouses (Tars) past club president, Merlee Quinto, on where the proceeds from this fund-raising activity will go. For the past 14 years, RCMC has been involved with free harelip and cleft palate surgeries, mostly among indigent children.
A dedicated team of American and Australian surgeons visit the country at least twice a year, through Operation Restore Hope (ORH); and it’s the club that answers for the food, medicine and hospital bills for all patients screened for surgery.
RCMC and RCBM are indeed doing double time in their efforts for the next ORH schedule come February 2008, which fulfills Rotary International’s theme for the year, "Rotary Shares."
Dance-aholics are in for a treat with the much-in-demand Renaissance Band, Cebu’s foremost dance band. Lending full support are event sponsors Pagcor and Smart.
With so many supporting this project, shouldn’t you, too? Tickets are available from any RCMC and RCBM member, or at the gate on the Teatro Casino.

Pizza anyone?
Pizza Hut prides itself as the world’s leader in pizza innovations, and once again, this lead has been proven. Philippine Pizza Inc., owner of the 139 chains of Pizza Hut restaurants in the country, introduces Pizza Hut Bistro, which opened last Nov. 30 at the upper ground floor of SM City’s plush Northwing.
Cebuano pizza lovers will welcome the resto’s sumptuous food, great value for money, and warm, personalized service, all in a casual dining setting.
Shall we join the exciting rush to the Bistro?

Truly amazing and consoling is the fact that our young people nowadays are not so consumed by iPods, MTV, or blaring disco music as they, too, have their priorities. And one of them is discovering the hidden skills that have remained untapped in their subconscious.
How to bring out these resources? Take the Personal Awareness and Leadership Seminar (Pals) for teens and yuppies, scheduled on Dec. 7, 8 and 9 at the Marcelo B. Fernan Cebu Press Center in Sudlon.
According to local coordinator Marget Villarica this will be the last session for the year. Please call her or Leny at 231-2461 for more info.

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend. Aside from being known for its dazzling luster and priceless properties, diamonds are also forever, as the song goes.
For the diamond birthday anniversary of Dońa Carmen “Mameng” Mejia Rodriguez, held at the Sabin Beach Resort in Ormoc City, she had the most priceless gift a woman could ever wish for. Her fulfilling 75 years produced nine children, and 35 grandchildren. Her health has been exemplary, and she looks forward to many more years.
Her birthday, celebrated with a bash every year, takes on a nostalgic mood, being 75. So her grandchildren prepared an unforgettable evening of songs, dances, and with special guest, the quintessential Pilita Corrales. At the end of the day, Dońa Carmen still believes: “My children are my jewels!”
