Tallest Christmas tree to rise in front of CICC

THE Cebu Provincial Government will put up the tallest Christmas tree in Cebu in front of the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC)

It will be visible from several roads and from airplanes approaching the airport.

Kia Motors has committed to help the Provincial Government put up the tree, which is designed to be more than 130 feet tall.

Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia also met with officials of various companies yesterday that promised for the Capitol’s Christmas activities.

The tree’s lighting ceremony is set on Dec. 17, which is also the kick-off of Capitol’s weeklong Christmas celebration featuring bazaars, live bands, cultural presentations and fireworks display.

Also yesterday, Garcia distributed early Christmas gifts to disabled persons by giving them free wheel chairs and crutches.

The 10 recipients of the wheelchairs are those either suffering from cerebral palsy, poliomyelitis or had paralyzed extremities.

There were also five persons who received crutches or canes.

Capitol also gave 16 people financial assistance, which totaled P103,000.

Ten of them lost their relatives to dengue while others are fire victims, flood victims and one had two relatives who drowned. (MBG)
