Speak out: Arroyo’s hypocrisy
By Democrito C. Barcenas
Spokesperson, Flag Region 7

WHEN Sen. Antonio Trillanes and Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim led a siege at the Peninsula hotel and demanded the resignation of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, the latter denounced the act as illegal and unconstitutional.

What monstrous hypocrisy!

When as vice-president she conspired with the generals led by Angelo Reyes to topple then president Joseph Estrada, was it legal and constitutional?

When she called then Comelec commissioner Virgilio Garcillano shortly after the 2004 presidential polls to rig her election by more than a million votes, was it legal and constitutional?

When she conspired with some corrupt generals in the military to help her manipulate the election results in Mindanao, was her act legal and constitutional?

When she encourages or tolerates the killings and forced disappearances of social activists and journalists in gross violation of human rights, and in shameless defiance of UN and world opinion, did she follow the Constitution?

When she stonewalls Senate investigations by preventing her Cabinet members from testifying in Senate hearings to find out the truth about rigged bidding, overpricing, kickbacks and other corrupt practices in the government did she follow the Constitution?

When she and her thugs in the military used naked force in implementing her calibrated pre-emptive response (CPR) to disperse peaceful rallies with the use of truncheons and tear gas, did she follow the Constitution?

When she successfully evaded previous impeachment moves not on the basis of reasoned debate but through congressional bribery and manipulation, did she follow the Constitution?

When she openly and brazenly bribed thru her minions, some corrupt governors, congressmen, and bishops for her political survival, did she follow the Constitution?

And when she and her military flunkies arrested, tied and forcibly brought to Bicutan scores of reporters, cameramen and journalists who covered the event at the

Peninsula last Nov. 29, did she and her police follow the Constitution?

It is high time GMA stopped invoking the Constitution, which she has raped and debased with impunity.
