1 of 2 who bolted jail in Carcar rearrested

ONE of two inmates who bolted the Carcar City Police Station last September was recaptured Thursday morning.

Arvin Perdigan Nacua, 24, who is facing an attempted robbery charge, was caught in his house in Sitio Mahayahay, Barangay Napo, Carcar City at 7:30 a.m.

Arvin, along with Dionisio Cerenio Bedina, picked the lock of their detention cell at the Carcar City Police Station and escaped.

The 13 police personnel were on duty at the time of the escape and were made to explain how the two detainees were able to flee unnoticed.

A man who was temporarily detained at the station due to drunkenness and was to be released in the morning told police the two inmates kept yelling to find out if the police officers were awake.

When none of the officers responded, they picked the lock and slipped away.

Last Thursday, a police team led by SPO2 Aurelio Luzano received a tip from City Councilor Harold Nacua.

The councilman told police he received information that Arvin had gone home to Sitio Mahayahay, Barangay Napo.

A team was sent to the area. Team members were in civilian clothes and were riding on motorcycles to avoid detection.

Arvin was caught by surprise and was unable to resist arrest because he was already surrounded.

His family wondered how the police officers knew he was in the area.

Police have been receiving bits of information regarding Arvin’s whereabouts, but these were always unconfirmed. (MEA)
