HERE some updates on the forthcoming, eagerly-anticipated Bachelors-Femina (BF) Innocents day ball on Dec. 28. A chronicle from BF president Perla Agudo-Peterson reads: “Our mamas are Rosebud R. Sala and Annie Corrales-Mahrt, while the papas are Jun Jereza and Benhur Salimbangon.”
As of press time, here are the pairings for the Rigodon de Honor: Perla A. Rehearsals for the rigodon are being held at a frenetic pace every Tuesday and Friday at the Casino Español, from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Lady participants are storming their closets for an appropriate Filipiniana gown to wear. Some are even rushing to their favorite couturier for an absolutely dream terno! You readers might be curious as to these two photos circa 1935 of BF ball of that era. These precious sepia fotos were found in the collection of the late Lourdes Urgello-Teves, and better-half, Judge Bernardo “Dodong” Teves, by daughter Munec Teves-Zulueta, who asked if we could use them. We certainly could, so here they are.
A love story unveiled during this 1935 BF ball. After a few years, as in 1938, Lourdes Urgello became Mrs. Bernardo Teves.
This union produced six offsprings, all good-lookers like their parents!
Incidentally, Perla Peterson welcomes vintage photos for BF memorabilia. If you or your parents/grandparents have such mementos, bring them over and get a prize. For these two fotos, Munec Zulueta earns two tickets to the BF ball. Hey, that’s a good P2,000 savings!
