Donaire returns to RP on Friday

NONITO “The Filipino Flash” Donaire, the International Boxing Federation and International Boxing Organization flyweight champion, is scheduled to arrive in Manila tomorrow morning.

The 25-year-old champion will have a tight schedule as he will be having interviews with Solar Sports and GMA 7 and will be appearing on the noon time show Eat Bulaga and the Sunday variety show SOP.

Despite his tight schedule, he is still planning to start training for his next fight. The early training aims to prevent him from having difficulty in moving his legs like what happened during his eighth round TKO victory over challenger Luis Maldonado.

“I want my legs to work so I can display my real talent like Sugar Ray Leonard,” Donaire said in report posted at philboxing.com

The IBF/IBO champion has started working out and will be training extensively at the Ringside Gym in Alabang to lose weight because he ballooned to 135 pounds after his fight with Maldonado last Dec 2.

The flyweight limit is 112 pounds.

Donaire also hasn’t spoken to his promoter Gary Shaw and his manager Cameron Dunkin about his next fight but he wants to train ahead so that he will be ready for his next fight. Unlike his last title defense when he only had one month to train. (EKA)
