USPF logs 2 wins in Cesafi volleyball
THE University of Southern Philippines Foundation may have lost the battle in the volleyball competition of the collegiate division, but its high school teams are well on their way to change that.
The USPF boys and girls junior teams logged two separate victories at the start of the high school competitions yesterday at the USPF gym.
The bemedalled girls team, led by Danika Gendrauli, defeated Cebu Institute of Technology, 25-7, 25-5, in a game that barely reached 30 minutes.
The USPF squad is littered with talents. Apart from Gendrauli, who has been rewarded with various individual awards, USPF is also steered by Kaise delos Santos, Apple Saraum and Jinky Garidos.
Later, USPF claimed its second win after defeating University of San Jose Recoletos, 25-12, 25-21, retaliating for its collegiate team’s straight set loss to USJ-R.
It was a different scenario in the collegiate finals, where the lady spikers of USPF Jordan Paca, failed to hold off the USJR spikers who did not allow USPF to win a single set.
USPF now has two victories. As the champion is determined by the most number of wins, USPF is slowly closing in on the goal of winning its seventh straight title.
The CIT girls team was able to salvage a victory by chance after its supposed opponent, University of San Carlos, failed to show up in their scheduled match. USJ-R also managed to take one win after defeating UC, 25-17, 21-25, 25-17. (MCB)
