Sunday, December 16, 2007 Yap tows Giants past Express
BACOLOD City—James Yap gave himself a pleasant homecoming as he led the Purefoods Tender Juicy Giants to a 114-92 repeat win over the Air21 Express last night in the 2007 Smart-PBA Philippine Cup at the West Negros College gym here.
The 6-foot-3 Yap, who was playing before his provincemates for the first time since being drafted second overall in the professional league in 2004, finished with 25 points and showed deadly accuracy by hitting 3-of-5 attempts from the three point arc.
With the win, their 11th in 14 games, the pacesetter Giants moved just four wins away from clinching the first of only two automatic semifinal slots in the all-Filipino conference.
The Express, on the other hand, who were beaten by the Giants by also a mile, 81-100, in their first meeting on Nov. 14, dropped to a tie from 7th to 8th with idle Ginebra Kings. Both have 5-8 card. (FCC)
