Blaire: I delivered Gines' P50T to cop
AFTER her arrest last Dec. 10 for allegedly bribing a police team to downgrade a drug case, PO1 Blaire Frances Quezon reported for work yesterday.
Quezon, who used to be with the Administrative Branch of the Cebu Provincial Police Office, met with her former superior, Supt. Audie Villacin, to give her side of the incident.
She was arrested earlier after handing P50,000 in cash to a member of the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (Raidsotg) allegedly in exchange for lowering a case to be filed against an arrested drug pusher.
Cebu Provincial Police Office Director Carmelo Valmoria then relieved her and reassigned her to the Provincial Security and Service Group while the Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Branch was tasked to conduct the pre-charge evaluation of her administrative case.
Quezon, in a brief interview with reporters at that time, said she handed the money upon the “instruction” of lawyer Gines Abellana, who was her professor in law school and served as her legal counsel in her annulment case.
Abellana initially refused to comment on Quezon’s arrest but called up Sun.Star Cebu four days later and said it was the police who demanded money from the drug suspect but thinking that they were subject of an entrapment operation arrested Quezon instead.
Supt. Marvin Sanchez, head of the task group, said Abellana’s claim was only his “game plan” to discredit the arresting officers.
Yesterday, Quezon said she had no idea what the arrangement was, only that Abellana asked her to deliver the money.
“Nahibulong nalang ko. Aw, gidakop na ko, sir? (I was surprised. Am I being arrested?)” she said.
She told reporters she was willing to face the cases filed against her and that she was set to meet Abellana yesterday.
“Wala ra man sab to sa akong hunahuna og unsa to. Wala lang sab ko mangutana og para unsa (I had no idea what the transaction was all about),” Quezon added.
She said she could not divulge more information until she meets Abellana and discuss the case with him, including the possibility of filing a counter suit against Raidsotg 7 and Sanchez.
“Wala man siguro’y ihatag kung wala’y nangayo. Wa ko kahibaw kung ingon ana gyud kaha...,” she said.
But Valmoria said that before the entrapment on Quezon was conducted, he was informed by the operatives of the plan to entrap her an hour before. He said Sanchez then called him up to inform him of her arrest. (MEA)
