Shopper gives birth inside Talisay mall

A SHOPPER gave birth inside the Gaisano Grand Fiesta Mall in Talisay City yesterday, turning its lobby into an instant delivery room.

Gemma Rosales Cabrera, 31, of Barangay Lawaan was out buying clothes at the infants’ section on the second floor when the unexpected happened at 12:10 p.m.

Crystal Mirafuentes, mall advertising head, said at least five female employees ran to Cabrera’s aid when she suddenly slumped on the floor.

Luckily, a pediatrician was around to instruct the employees on how to assist Cabrera.

Mirafuentes said they had to cover the portion of the lobby with towels while Cabrera writhed in pain.

Mirafuentes described the delivery as smooth and fast. It took only Cabrera five minutes to give birth to a healthy baby girl.

She endured it despite the nuisance of curious onlookers witnessing the unusual scene.

Mirafuentes said that a mall vehicle then rushed Cabrera to the Talisay District Hospital in Barangay San Isidro.

Hospital guard Teofilo Dignos confirmed that Cabrera was confined in the hospital and in good condition.

Her husband, a rug vendor, was out when Sun.Star Cebu called up the hospital past 3 p.m. (GC)
