Monday, December 24, 2007 Costanilla: Enchanting wishes By Sam Costanilla spotlight
ON this Christmas eve, allow me to extend my sincere yuletide wishes for some individuals as well as close friends that continue to touch other people’s lives, including mine, through their genuine friendship and pure intentions. I also pray that my wishes for them will come true and that 2008 would be a more fruitful year for all of them. Here goes...
* * *
SINGER Raki Vega: The release of your much-awaited first album of inspirational compositions. A birthday concert in February should also be pursued because I know that a lot of your fans here in Cebu are missing you and your songs a lot.
* * *
TRI-MEDIA personality Bobby Nalzaro: A mini concert featuring our colleagues isn’t complete without you as one of the featured performers. Let’s look for an interested show promoter to seriously consider the option of producing such concert.
* * *
EVENT director Junjet Primor: More shows here and abroad. Your professionalism should inspire and guide other event directors to come up with shows that are truly delightful and entertaining.
* * *
GOVERNOR Gwen Garcia: More enthusiasm, zeal, determination and energy in delivering basic services that the Cebuanos, especially the poor, truly need. And please, don’t leave Cebu until your third term ends in 2013 in favor of any national position.
* * *
VICE Governor Greg Sanchez Jr.: The realization of your novel idea called the Cebu trans-axial highway. And may the provincial board that you preside over continue to be united and cooperative for the sake of more progress and development of this premier province.
* * *
KOREAN consulate official Joe Go: Your great and impressive public relations skill continues to inspire all visiting Koreans in Cebu to tell their compatriots to come and visit this great province. I wish that you’ll have more dynamism in pursuing your goals especially in your Lions Club endeavors.
* * *
ARTIST Boy Kiamko: The restoration of your Cebu mural on the wall of the Cebu city historical and cultural affairs commission office. May those responsible for its destruction understand the importance and meaning of art to humanity.
* * *
TV station manager Dante Luzon: Managing CCTN channel 47 eats up a lot of your time but your being a painter and singer should also be exposed from time to time. A painting exhibit-cum-concert (with me as your pianist) should be pursued next year.
* * *
ROTARIAN Cecille Paschner: More fulfilling projects and activities that could truly benefit a lot of our less fortunate brethren. I also wish that your Raquets restobar continue to attract more singing clients that are looking for a place with a cozy ambience and a nice sound system.
* * *
PIANIST Ingrid Sala-Santamaria: A possible revival of the Peace Philharmonic Philippines as well as more concerts here and abroad. Your impressive performance is what all music lovers always look forward to.
* * *
KOMIKS king Carlo J. Caparas: More komiks publishers for you and your work. A teleserye in Cebuano, based on one of your many komiks stories, is a good idea that needs serious consideration.
* * *
FILM producer Donna Villa: Being a Garbo sa Sugbo awardee, maybe you can produce a Cebuano movie, one that is about a local hero. direk Carlo should, of course, write and direct it. I am aware, however, that your many projects in Manila prevent you from coming over to Cebu as often as you wanted.
* * *
STAGE director Jamna Gicole: A fulfilling career (as occupational therapist) and maybe eventually a stage performance (as singer) in Florida. Your wards at the Repertory of Young Professionals in Theater based in Cebu miss you a lot but I wish you will be able to take even a brief vacation next year.
