Principal sues chief of CIIB before Ombud

THE principal of Zapatera Night High School sought the assistance of the Office of Ombudsman-Visayas over the alleged “trouble” caused by the chief of the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Bureau last Dec. 23.

Lolita Secuya said Senior Insp. George Ylanan went “berserk” in their neighborhood around 3 a.m. that day.

A report from radio dyAB said Ylanan threw stones at houses, threatened to kill anybody who came out of their homes and then fired four shots.

Sun.Star Cebu tried to get Ylanan’s side on the issue. He, however, refused to comment.

“I’ll only answer these allegations once there’s a case filed against me before the ombudsman,” he said in Cebuano.

Secuya said that what happened last Dec. 23 was not the first time. She said she and other neighbors of Ylanan had witnessed similar incidents in the past but they opted to remain quiet out of fear.

She explained that she decided to take action because the incident last Sunday was the “worst.”

Secuya said the damage to her house is proof of this.

The “show” of Ylanan, Secuya said, lasted for an hour.

The principal said the policeman’s wife tried to pacify him but to no avail.

Secuya, though, could not say if Ylanan was under the influence of liquor at the time of the incident.

She said Ylanan had no reason to act that way because they had no quarrel.

Ombudsman Director Virginia Santiago said she will call Ylanan for a conference early next year.

Ylanan, for his part, expressed willingness to face his accuser before the anti-graft court. (KNT)
