Sunday, December 30, 2007 Fallen rookie honored in kiosk
A KIOSK inside the Cebu City police headquarters will be named after PO1 Noriel Luage, the rookie policeman who died at work, hours after receiving an award.
Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Director Patrocinio Comendador said that the force wants to honor Luage’s bravery.
Luage, 29, of the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Bureau, was shot and killed while serving a search warrant on Ramon “Boy” Baclohan in Sitio Sab-a, Barangay Zapatera, Cebu City in a joint operation with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
Baclohan, who allegedly fired the first shot, was also killed by SPO1 Delfin Bontuyan, who was with Luage.
The operation was part of a police manhunt against the alleged cohorts, including Baclohan, of alleged fraternity hitman Aristotle Aves.
Luage was attacked barely six hours after he received a Medal of Merit last Dec. 3, for taking part in the arrest of Aves.
Comendador told reporters he already issued a directive to the administrative section to schedule the blessing and unveiling of Luage’s kiosk marker.
