Confident challenger to teach Pacman a ringside lesson

ANOTHER Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao challenger has arisen this week as undefeated World Boxing Association (WBA) feather weight champion Chris “The Dragon” John wants to take a shot and defeat the Filipino ring idol next year.

In an interview at sportsnut.com, John (40-0-1, 21 KOs) stated confidently that he will beat Pacman and shock the world. He added that he has the edge over Pacquiao (45-3-2, 35 KO’s) because of his speed and his skills and with that he will give him a boxing lesson.

“I can beat him and shock the world. I beat Marquez who came close to beating Pacquiao. I believe I have the technique to beat Manny. I have the speed to give him a boxing lesson. I would love to fight Pacquiao. With my speed and skills, I can cause a big upset. I am faster than anyone he has fought and I have a better defence. Manny Pacquiao is a great fighter but I have the style to outbox him. He is regarded as the world’s best at 130lb and I am regarded as the best at 126. Let’s fight to see who is No.1 overall,” said John cockily in an interview at sportsnut.com.

Pacman’s advantage

John took the WBA crown from Pacquiao’s opponent in his upcoming March 15 bout, Juan Manuel Marquez. He beat Marquez in a unanimous decision in March 2006 in Indonesia.

The Indonesian thinks that Pacquiao will have the advantage in the Pac-quiao-Marquez fight because he is stronger and much more aggressive.

“I believe Pacquiao will win. He is very strong and aggressive. In their first fight he had Marquez down three times in the opening round but lost focus and let Marquez back into the fight. He let Marquez escape with a draw,” said John.

US career

John wants to start his career in the US and for him to have a name there he must defeat the biggest name and that is Pacquiao. He hasn’t fought in the US ever in his 41 career fights.

“I want to fight in America and I want to fight Pacquiao. He is a huge name in America and beating him in Las Vegas would be a great way for me to start my career there,” said John.

John is scheduled to defend his WBA title in Jakarta, Indonesia on Jan 26 against Roinet Caballero of Panama. (EKA)
