Sunday, December 30, 2007 Either Naito or Sakata for Nonito’s unity fight
THE International Boxing Federation and International Boxing Organization flyweight champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire is hoping for a unification fight with either of the two Japanese fighters in April even if it means fighting them in their territory.
Philboxing.com reported that Donaire looks forward to fighting either Daisuke Naito (32-2-2, 20 KOs) the World Boxing Council flyweight title holder or World Boxing Association flyweight champion Takefumi Saka-ta (31-4-2, 15 KOs) in his next fight.
“The Filipino Flash” has been longing for the moment to unify the flyweight belts, which no Filipino has ever done. He wants to be the first to achieve this feat.

Meanwhile, another possible Donaire challenger, Hussein Hussein, is most likely out of the race after a unanimous decision loss to Hiroyuki Hisataka last Dec 24.
Donaire has already started his training by running laps every morning to keep himself in shape and to prevent being overweight, which is what happened to him in his last fight. He weighs around 129 pounds, which is far from his desired weight of 112 pounds. He is planning to start extensive training in January.
According to phil-boxing.com, the 25-year-old Filipino champion hasn’t spoken to either his manager Cameron Dunkin or his promoter Gary Shaw about his next title defense.
Shaw is scheduled to come to the Philippines on Jan. 21 and guest in Solar Sports, which aired the exciting Donaire-Darchinyan fight and the first Donaire title defense against Luis Maldonado. (EKA)
