Inter Cebu crushes DBC

IN Thursday’s games of the 54th Founders Day Celebration 11 aside football tournament at the Don Bosco Football field in Punta Princesa, Inter Cebu lived up to its expectation as the team to beat in this tournament as they crushed the home team, Don Bosco College, 6-0.

The former Hiroshi team got an easy win and didn’t have much competition as they shocked the home crowd when they held DBC scoreless the whole time.

Japee Arranguez and Sadam Delan were the top scorers for Inter Cebu, they contributed two goals apiece and Migo Aguilar and Ariel Cahilig scored one goal each.

Inter Cebu is automatically in the semifinals and is the No. 1 team in group B with a 3-0 win-loss record while Don Bosco United ranked second.

Meanwhile, in the second match of that day, No To Drugs Football Club trampled the depleted University of the Philippines Football Club 4-0.

NTD FC started out strong attacking the opposing goal and Bryle Pesquira struck an early goal in the 13th minute. Ronnie Pahl added another goal for NTD FC four minutes after.

NTD FC’s Willie Balonga added another goal nine minutes after halftime and Alfred Alega scored a goal nearing the end of regulation, sealing the victory for NTD FC.

UC clinched the top spot in group A with an unscathed record while NTD FC and University of Southern Philippines Foundation Alumni are fighting for the last spot of group A for the semifinals.

DBU will face UC in the semis while Inter Cebu is waiting for either NTD FC or USPF A, which will be facing each other with a do-or-die game today.

The Under 17 and Under 12 football tournament will kick-off today with different teams from Cebu City, including two teams from Don Bosco Technology Center and a team from San Carlos City.

Meanwhile, the One Day Football Festival, which features footsal games and football games, has been moved to Feb 9. (EKA)
