Sunday, January 13, 2008 3 ‘thieves’ nabbed after disembarking from vessel
POLICE arrested three suspected thieves yesterday morning in Pier I in Barangay San Roque, Cebu City shortly after getting off from an inter-island vessel they boarded in Ormoc City.
The suspects were identified as Rogelio P. Albarico, 37, and brothers Rafael, 37, and Zaldy Nuñez, 34.
They were presented to the media yesterday, hoping that people who were victimized by them will visit Camp Sotero Caba-hug to press charges against the three men.
Because they were not caught in the act of stealing, they will be charged with vagrancy.
A team from the Theft and Robbery Section was sent to the port area yesterday morning after receiving intelligence report that the three suspects would arrive in Cebu in time for Sinulog.
Albarico and the Nuñez brothers are allegedly involved in jeepney holdups, snatching and pickpocket activities.
They had also been arrested before allegedly for their theft activities.
Zaldy, who spoke in behalf of his group, told reporters that they only came to Cebu to take part in the festivities.
He, however, would not comment on the police’s allegation that they were involved in petty crimes. (JST)
