Woman kills husband’s attacker

A WOMAN shot and killed her husband’s attacker in Barangay Balaygtiki, Dumanjug, Cebu Friday night.

Marites Lañojan, 29, tried but failed to keep Sanixie Dupal-ag, 25, from beating up her husband Jesus.

When she saw Jesus unconscious, she thought he was dead.

As Dupal-ag allegedly picked up a rock and was about to hit Jesus’ head with it, she pulled the trigger.

It turned out that Jesus was just unconscious.

Jesus said his cousins, including Dupal-ag, were angry at him for siding with incumbent Dumanjug Mayor Cesar Baricuatro in the May elections.

He said it was Baricuatro who gave him a job as a garbage collector, which was why he felt indebted to the mayor.

Since then, Jesus’ cousins have reportedly been threatening him. However, he chose to ignore their insults.

But last Friday, he said a drunken Dupal-ag arrived at their house and attacked him.

Jesus said he could not fight back because Dupal-ag was bigger than him. He said Dupal-ag lifted him and threw him against a wall and hit him in the head and ears several times.

The last blow knocked him unconscious.

Marites had been pleading with Dupal-ag but he reportedly ignored her.

Their children also saw what happened.

When she saw Dupal-ag pick up a rock, she shot him. He died instantly.

Jesus hopes the law will take pity on his wife, who was only defending him.

He said it was Dupal-ag who entered their house unannounced and attacked him without provocation.

Jesus said he has bruises to prove that he was the one attacked. Marites gave birth to their youngest child less than a month ago. They have seven children. (MEA)
