USPF, DBC, UC win in Day 2

IT WAS the second day of the exciting 54th Founders Day Celebration 11 aside Football Tournament at the Don Bosco Football Field in Punta Princesa and the bleachers were filled with football fanatics cheering on their favorite team.

In the first game, University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Alumni held the opposing team University of the Philippines Football Club (UPFC) scoreless in a 2-0 victory. Claude Briones and Michael Paredes scored for USPF Alumni both in the second half.

The home team Don Bosco College (DBC) beat San Roque United 2-0 in its own turf in the second game of the day. DBC’s Eugene Ynclino struck the first goal in the 15th minute and Sulito scored the second goal 15 minutes after the halftime break.

No To Drugs Football Club salvaged a draw with Inter Lapu-Lapu, 3-3. The latter came out strong as they drew the first blood and scored the only goal of the first half but NTD FC was persistent and had three goals in the second half to tie the game.

Inter Cebu held its reputation as the team to beat as they scored an easy win over Queen City United, 3-0.

In the fifth game of the day, University of Cebu (UC) trampled the exhausted USPF Alumni in a 4-1 win. USPF Alumni was clearly tired and their defense broke down, resulting to UC’s uncontested goals.

The last and most awaited game of the day was the clash between the highly favored and fan favorite Don Bosco United and San Roque United, which lost earlier to DBC.

DBU destroyed San Roque United in a lopsided 5-1 victory. Jonathan Sollo of DBU struck the first two goals of the game in the 15th and 27th minutes.

Cristano Sanchez scored the next two goals one in the first half the other after the half time break. San Roque United’s Mark Cueva did not lose hope but his efforts were too late and San Roque couldn’t escape the inevitable as the whistle sounded the end of the game. Hink Ruiz also scored a goal for DBU in the second half. (EKA)
