PNP task force tests security plan today

FROM 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. today, members of the Sinulog Task Force that will be detailed inside Abellana Sports Center will hold a dry run on their security measures for this Sunday’s Grand Parade.

Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Patrocinio Comendador, task force commander on security concerns, said the dry run will be conducted to determine last-minute changes in the plan and assess the readiness of the detailed operatives.

Comendador met with all 11 police station commanders, special unit chiefs, representatives from Central Command and from the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 for a coordinating conference.

Meanwhile, the Cebu Coast Guard (CG) is urging owners to have their vessels and motorized boats registered early for an orderly fluvial parade this Saturday.

The Cebu CG made this call as it finalized yesterday the order of the participating seacraft in the fluvial procession, an annual activity reviving the historic arrival of the Sto. Niño in Cebu.

Like in the past fluvial parades, the participating vessels will have to follow a color-coded scheme that has been divided into three divisions.

As of yesterday, only 40 boats were registered at the Cebu CG station at Pier 3, Cebu City. (JST/GC)
