Yrastorza in stable condition; city councilor donates blood

REGIONAL Trial Court Judge Rafael Yrastorza is in stable condition after he collapsed in his office last Monday.

Lawyer Aurora Peña-flor, clerk of court of Branch 14, said that according to Yrastorza’s wife, the judge is still in the intensive care unit of Chong Hua Hospital.

Plans to transfer him to another hospital were shelved.

Peñaflor said Yrastor-za will be discharged when his blood level stabilizes.

Yrastorza, who reportedly suffers from ulcer, was studying cases in his chambers when the incident happened.

Half-conscious

When his staff found him, he was sitting in his chair half-conscious with blood all over his chest.

Transfusion

Peñaflor cannot confirm if the judge underwent blood transfusion. Earlier reports said the blood pressure of the judge was very low.

She, however, disclosed that among those who donated blood was Cebu City Councilor Hilario Davide III.

In an interview with Sun.Star Cebu, Davide said he cannot confirm if a blood transfusion indeed took place.

He said he gave 500 cc of his blood for Yrastorza yesterday after doctors informed him his blood was compatible with that of the magistrate. (KNT)
