Monday, January 21, 2008 Costanilla: A magnet for tourism By Sam Costanilla Spotlight
MIDDLE of this year, we will see the rise of a world-class shooting range and resort in the town of Aloguinsan. The place shall have a clubhouse with swimming pools and spa, sports facilities, a bike trail, furnished row houses and cottages, a restaurant and air-soft grounds, among other amenities. I could see that once this structure is operational, Aloguinsan, in particular, and Cebu province, in general, would be placed in the international sports and resort map.

YOURS truly had the privilege of facilitating a meeting between King of Kings Sports World and Resort chairperson and chief operating officer Rey Duterte Abad and Gov. Gwen Garcia in her Capitol office last December. During that meeting, Abad expressed his intention to build the 6.3-hectare facility in Aloguinsan and the governor was so happy about his pronouncement because this project could help Aloguinsan attract other potential investors as well as local and foreign tourists.

BARRING unforeseen events, Abad’s project will have its groundbreaking ceremony before this month ends because he wants it completed and ready for public use in June this year. He is offering a very affordable membership rate so if you want to know more about the project, visit www.kingofkings.com.ph right away.

STILL on local tourism, Gov. Garcia’s brainchild that is Suroy-Suroy Sugbo, continues to attract domestic and foreign tourists as well as balikbayans to visit the cities and towns and experience genuine hospitality and warmth that we Cebuanos are globally known for. So from Wednesday to Friday this week, those joining Suroy-Suroy Sugbo will be treated to another wonderful tour of Cebu’s southern municipalities and cities.

SUROY-SUROY SUGBO is one surefire way of keeping Cebu tourism alive and kicking. It is ironic to think that while some of us are raring to go to other places as tourists, we have not realized that here in our own place, we also have a lot of beautiful sights and attractions to visit, not to mention the number of heritage spots to see, the colorful cultural festivals to watch and the tasty native cuisine and delicacies to enjoy. To register as Suroy-Suroy Sugbo participant, kindly call or text cell phone number 09175464544 today.

AS EMCEE and publicist of the yearly Cebu Popular Music Festival, this writer would like to thank the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) for its financial assistance extended to the Cebu Arts Foundation, Inc., the organizer of the yearly Cebu Popular Music Festival that we just staged last Friday at the Cebu Coliseum. This is the first time that the NCCA is helping the festival and I hope its financial support would be on a yearly basis, just like what the Cebu provincial government and the other sponsors are doing.

THIS former disc jockey who used to be one of the highest-paid radio personalities in Cebu is now in the US as a real estate agent. He and his wife have parted ways and efforts to reconcile them have failed.

ANOTHER former mediaman here is now in the US with his wife but he promised to come back just to claim his retirement money (in millions of pesos!) as soon as the government network that he used to manage notifies that the moolah is ready for collection.
