VETERAN rider Pipo Rubi and Winsor Famorga ruled the rain-shortened opening leg of the 2008 MS Motosuit Motocross series held in Sitio Tuburan, Ubay, Lilo-an yesterday.
Rubi ruled the Expert Class, while Famorca won the Intermediate division as they earned 20 points each.
Race organizer Lou Ornopia told Sun.Star Cebu that because of the uncooperative weather, he had to cut short the race to avoid untoward accidents that might dampen the spirit of the series.
“The race track was very slippery. So after the first heat I decided to cancel the rest of the heats. Anyway we still have a long series ahead of us,” Ornopia said.
Finishing second to Rubi were Dondon Yuson who earned 17 points and followed by Famorca who settled for 15 in the Expert Division.
Aat the Intermediate class, Famorca was followed by Paulo Inoc and Juvi Abellar.
Abellar won the Rider of the Year award during the 2007 Series winning both the Intermediate and Expert Class with a total of 298 and 279 points respectively. At the start of the 2008 series, Abellar settled just for 15 ponts.

Flores, winner of last year’s Mini Division, also placed third in the Beginner’s Production class, that was won by Donkey Sanchez.
