Tuesday, January 22, 2008 Healthy food for healthier kids
THE Province is looking to educate mothers about healthy food.
According to Provincial Board (PB) Member Agnes Magpale, this will supplement the Capitol’s feeding program of hot meals and milk
Magpale, the chairperson of the committee on women, family and minors, said a meal does not have to be expensive. It can be made from home-grown vegetables.
The government’s feeding program will also only last for 120 days, which makes it necessary for mothers to sustain their own feeding program to keep their children healthy.

“Kay who will go to school if mamatay na ang mga bata (There’s wouldn’t be any children attending school if they’re not healthy)?” asked Magpale.
The feeding program is part of the Capitol’s Early Childhood and Care Development (ECCD) program. The ECCD, in turn, focuses on the repair of daycare centers.
The supplemental feeding program is part of the ECCD to provide overall care to the children: physical, mental and others.
In Cebu, the project covers 14 municipalities identified by the Department of Education.
The pilot areas for the livelihood project will be Argao in the south and Tabuelan in the north. (JGA)
