Sanchez plans to focus on business in 2010

CEBU Vice Gov. Gregorio Sanchez Jr. is seriously considering “retiring” from politics.

Sanchez said he plans to focus on his business by 2010, after his eldest daughter took an indefinite leave of absence as chief executive officer of the Lacto Pafi Techno Resources Corp., of which he is the president.

The company manufactures and distributes Lacto products here and abroad.

He, however, clarified that this does not mean that he is already closing his doors to politics.

“I am planning but we don’t know our fate. Sanchez told Sun.Star Cebu.

The vice governor also said that even if he is not active in politics, he can still continue serving Cebuanos.

Sanchez said that among his business thrusts is to provide livelihood programs.

Last year, he declared a net worth of P93,272,114, making him the richest Capitol official.

He also declared 29 parcels of land, nine automobiles and two cabin cruiser yachts.

He also posted P74 million more in other assets over an accrued business-related liability of P53 million because of long-term payables and advances made by affiliated companies.

In 2006, Sanchez declared a net worth of P91.9M.

When asked if he plans to run for governor in case Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia decides to go after a national post, Sanchez answered: “I just leave everything to God.”

Three presidential candidates have reportedly eyed Garcia as their running mate in the 2010 elections. (KNT)
