ANS, Paref coaches not keen on CebuFA's plan to restructure group

TWO coaches of two schools known for football said they don’t favor the plan for a new structure set by former Cebu Football Association (CebuFA) president Jonathan Maximo.

Maximo, whose term ended last Dec. 31, plans to divide the teams and clubs into districts. Each district will choose its own representative, who in turn will form the management committee.

Maximo wants the reforms in place before the CebuFA holds its elections, which was supposed to be held last year yet.

Francis Ramirez, coach of the Abellana National School football squad thinks that it is too late to set the new structure now because the officer’s four year term have already expired.

“Why now? They should have implemented this earlier, not at the end of their term,” said Ramirez of ANS in an interview by Sun.Star Cebu yesterday.

He added that it would be unfair for some areas because some have more football teams and others have less, so the division of districts wouldn’t be equal. He also said if they would change the structure the CebuFA should have done it after the elections and not before.

On the other hand, former national team member and noted youth football coach Mario Ceniza isn’t keen on the plan.

“Dividing teams to districts is too vague. It’s simply not feasible. It’s so hard to divide teams and clubs into districts. An example of this would be Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue. Do we split them both or do they belong in one district.”

Two titles

Meanwhile, Ceniza’s Paref-Springdale team recently joined the Rizal Football Association Cup, where they captured two championships.

The 10-Under team won against Head Center 2-0 in the finals to rule the division with Enzo Ceniza and Lorenzo Genco scoring both goals.

On the other hand, the 12-Under team leaned on Ijo Clarito’s lone goal to beat Sacred Heart School-Jesuit for the division finals.

Paref-Springdale sent only six teams to this tournament and two came out as winners. (EKA)
