CEBU-BASE real estate firm J. King & Sons Company Inc. realized the value of deploying genuine software in all its businesses with the com-pany’s recent signing of the Get Genuine Windows Agreement (GGWA) with Microsoft Philippines, through its partner re-seller, XComp Computer Sales.
J. King & Sons acquired a total of 125 GGWA licenses for Windows XP Professional, which will be used in all of its offices and properties.
GGWA is Microsoft’s global initiative that helps partners correct Windows XP Professional desktop licensing deficiencies. This agreement is available through Microsoft Volume Licensing Corporate Programs.
“A number of businesses are victimized by piracy without them even knowing it,” said Boy Bawal, Microsoft Philippines operations director. “This is the issue that GGWA addresses. It allows our partners to legalize unlicensed copies of Microsoft software in their customers’ computers. The program is among the many initiatives we have to advocate the use of genuine software, not only in the home, but more importantly in small- to large-scale businesses.”
Under the GGWA, partners can offer their customers a scalable legalization solution for unlicensed copies of Windows XP Professional on business desktops, Software Assurance for Volume Licensing, as well as additional software asset management consulting services.
“This agreement with J. King & Sons Company Inc. is a positive sign that businesses in Cebu know the importance of standardizing on genuine software in their businesses,” said Richard Uy, general manager of XComp Computer Sales.
Last year, Cebu strengthened its efforts to drive awareness on the importance of using genuine software with the help of Microsoft Southern Philippines and its partners. (PR)
