SINCE there is no formal request for postponement from the Cebu City mayor, initial work on the Banilad flyover will start at 6 a.m. today.

No major traffic disruption is expected. Initial work will only cover surveys, layouting and cutting of pavements and would not require heavy equipment or the closure of the entire stretch of the construction site yet, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 7 officials said.

DPWH Cebu City Director Nicomedes Leonor and Rep. Raul del Mar both agreed there is no more reason to delay the construction and that it will start today.
