Cop files complaint v. RMG chief for giving paycheck to lender
A POLICE colonel and his subordinate were charged for allegedly failing to release the paychecks of at least two other policemen and allegedly turning it over instead to a moneylender to force the payment of a “usurious loan.”
PO1 Sergio Genotivo Jayme Jr., of San Roque, Asturias, Cebu, raised the allegation against Police Senior Supt. Jesus Gaquing Sr., in an affidavit subscribed before Assistant City Prosecutor Ma. Leonore Norma de la Serna.
He impleaded PO3 Andy Adlawan Nonong who he identified as the finance non-commissioned officer of the Regional Mobile Group (RMG) that Gaquing heads.
Jayme isn’t the only one complaining.
Marlon Sano Sar–miento, who said he has been dropped from the PNP roll, lodged a similar case against Gaquing and Nonong before the Office of the Cebu City Prosecutor.
Investigation
His complaint is currently under preliminary investigation and he submitted his reply-affidavit yesterday.
Gaquing, based on the records of the case, has denied the charges, saying he didn’t authorize the release of the checks and maintained that the complaint was motivated by malice as the complainant blamed him for being dropped from the roll.
In his complaint, Sarmiento said his paychecks end up in the hands of Dr. Joy Hernandez-Cañete, daughter of the late Pilar Hernandez.
He described Cañete as a “loan investor with whom the aforementioned superior police officials cut a usurious loan deal in my behalf and without my consent.”
Jayme, in his affidavit, said Gaquing and Nonong, being the RMG commander and finance officer respectively, receive his paycheck from the PNP every month.
However, instead of handing the check over to him, the checks find its way into the hands of Dr. Cañete.
“I received continuous pressure from my P/Sr. Supt. Gaquing not to pursue my course of action, otherwise I would be marked AWOL,” Jayme said. (KNR)
