Friday, February 01, 2008 Speak out: Condom ads By Marites Heyrosa Norway
(The letter is addressed to Sun.Star columnist Bobby Nalzaro)
I read your column about the issue of condoms. I really disagree with parents wanting to ban the advertisements of condoms.
Here in Europe, we can buy condoms in the gasoline station, supermarket, pharmacy, etc.
I also think these advertisements are not a bad influence to our youths, even though we are living in a Catholic country. What is important is to prevent abortion and rapid growth of our population.
I read in newspapers and magazines that in Africa condoms are openly distributed to people.
So I myself will support the Department of Health Health in endorsing or allowing the advertisement of condoms. Condoms protect their users from Aids, and other sexually transmitted diseases.
I appreciate it if media will continue to advertise condoms.
