Reflexes help bizman foil 5 ‘robbers’
A BUSINESSMAN’S quick reaction led to the arrest of five robbery suspects in Barangay Taytay, Danao City yesterday dawn.
Clifford Lavides Galo, 25, was with his 16-year-old helper waiting for a bus. They were planning to travel to Barangay Kawit, Medellin to buy livestock.
Suddenly, five men on a tricycle arrived and parked in front of them. One of them approached him and pointed a gun at him. He then told Galo that he was being held up.
Instead of giving his money, Galo ran inside a nearby restaurant and called the police.
The police team dispatched to respond to his call managed to arrest five men including a 16-year-old boy, whom he identified as the ones who tried to rob him.
The five were identified as Pedro Durano Banzon Jr., 25, an electrician, Julrich Lacaso Sumira, 23, Dexter Manco Tariao, 19, Nicasio Encontro delos Santos, 30, a tricycle driver, and 16-year-old Ricky (real name withheld, for being a minor).
All five are from Barangay Taytay, Danao City.
They were caught at a gasoline station not far from the restaurant.
Police found and seized a .38 revolver with three live bullets in Sumira’s possession and a motorcycle with sidecar.
All five were arrested and are now detained at the Danao City Police Station. (MEA)
