Thursday, February 07, 2008 Austrian resto opens new franchised outlet
EUROPEAN delicacies continue to invade Cebu’s vibrant food business.
Apart from Italian and French restaurants, Vienna Kaffehaus, which serves Austrian dishes, continues to attract the younger market segment, especially with the opening of its second franchised outlet in Gorordo Avenue, Cebu City.
“The younger crowd has more purchasing power and they love to experiment on food,” said Raymund Basubas, marketing director of the family-owned Innere Stadt Corp., which is among the franchisees of Vienna Kaffehaus.
The gourmet restaurant is operated by the Philippine-Austrian Restaurant Inc.
“This is the only Austrian restaurant in the Philippines,” he said, adding that Vienna Kaffeehaus’ specialties include Austrian steaks and sausages.
He said the restaurant uses spices that come from Austria.
“An Austrian delicacy with a Filipino twist,” is how he described the Vienna Kaffehaus menu.
Ideal
Vienna Kaffehaus in Gorordo sits on a 200-square meter property and can accommodate up to 60 people. It also has an al fresco dining and 30-seater conference room for small functions.
Basubas said the location is “ideal” because it is less crowded and has an ample parking space that can accommodate about 70 cars.
In an interview with Sun.Star Cebu, Basubas said the company decided to operate Vienna Kaffehaus in semi-secluded areas instead of malls because the restaurant does not belong to the category of mainstream food establishments, like fastfood chains that cater to the general public.
The restaurant targets young professionals, he said.
He said the Vienna Kaffehaus franchise is sure to be a hit because the brand name is well established in the country.
Vienna Kaffeehaus has been operating in the country in the last 25 years.
A Vienna Kaffehaus franchise fee is pegged at 500,000, said Basubas.
Vienna Kaffehaus Gorordo, which also serves breakfast, will hold its grand launching tomorrow.
In Cebu, Vienna Kaffehaus restaurants are also found in General Maxilom Ave., and A.C. Cortes St., Mandaue City. (MMM)
