Wednesday, February 13, 2008 Motosuit Motocross '08 2nd leg in Bayawan, Or. Negros
AFTER days of uncertainty, the second leg of the 2008 MS Motosuit Motocross Series will go to Bayawan City in Oriental Negros this Sunday.
Series organizer Lou Ornopia told Sun.Star-Cebu yesterday that they have closed the deal with local promoter, DD Events Promotions to hold the second leg of the series in the largest city in Oriental Negros.
“I got the go signal from the local organizer that they wanted the race to be part of the MS Motosuit Motocross Series and we will hold it this Sunday in Bayawan City,” Ornopia said.
The second leg will be named “Mayor German Saraña: 2nd Bayawan Petro Spring 4T Invitational Outdoor Motocross Challenge,” which will draw out the maximum number of participants.
“We believe all the riders who are taking part of the series will be going there because this is the second leg and they are all after for the points they could earn that is aside from the cash prize they could win in the leg. For this series, we will give the maximum 40 points,” Ornopia said.
Last Jan. 20, only 20 points were awarded to the top winner of each bracket because of the heavy downpour in Jubay, Lilo-an.
Keith Galaura won the mini class, Dongkey Sanchez ruled the Open Enduro and Beginners Production categories. Other winners were Michael Desbaro for the Local Enduro, Ayen Ledesma in the Novice Production, Butch Flores in the Executive C category, Adonis Famador in both Executive A and B division, Winsor Pamorca in the Intermediate division, while veteran Pepo Rubi ruled the Expert Division, which earned them 20 points each after one heat.
Aside from the 40 points to earn, a total of P60,000 is also at stake in this race.
Meanwhile, Ornopia is finalizing whether the Casili, Consolacion race will be included in the MS series .
“We are looking at the budget now. However, if ever the budget could not really meet the target then the race in Casili will not be a part of the series otherwise—the third leg of the 2008 MS Motosuit Motocross Series will be on Feb. 24 in Casili-Consolacion,” Ornopia explained. (RCM)
