Quijada: V-day, B-day
By Jadis Quijada
Shout out

WHEN birthday midnight struck, I was still glued to work.

Ideally at this age, I had set myself for traveling, post-graduate studying and dedicating myself to other non-paying hobbies. Such romantic aspirations, of course, could not afford you the gadgets and little pick-me-ups that cost a small fortune these days.

For this working girl, weekend shopping and jaunts have become regular pauses in what would have otherwise be a week-long madness. To put an altruistic twist to this habit, I volunteered myself to be the all-around shopping buddy to my friends-in-need. I was showing the expansion building of Ayala Center Cebu to Vi (whom I had to drag to the half-day mission) who easily settled in the Maldita outlet. For us girls who crisscrossed shops and dressing rooms for hours, cushioned seats are a real treat. Twenty and thirty-something no-fuss career women can spot their office and after-office clothes here, where products are arranged by color schemes.

Maldita’s crop of sale items include a lot of staples like the ever-dependable black garter-waist slacks which was a perfect fit for Vi who got it at P450. Loyal shoppers of this shop should track their expenses, an accumulation of P10,000 will get you a Maldita privilege card that’ll award you discounts and other promos.

Valentine Bean Date

Singles should mingle. And to our morning crew of busy, busy girls—a hearty breakfast at Gloria Jean’s coupled with endless photo grabs and non-catty chatter consumed our Valentine’s Day morning. Their All-American breakfast, packed with waffles, bacon and egg, should keep you up and going for a flurry of rushes.

V is for Vagina Monologues, Victoria’s Secret

A post-Valentine mush detoxification, Vagina Monologues is on this February 16 and 17 at SM Cinema 2 (1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.), with tickets sold at P200, P300 and P500.

Jadis’ Choice

Smooch-ready. Red may be in but a good lip gloss is forever. If you’re not into spending big bucks for those Lancome Juicy Tubes, you can glaze your lips in VS’s version which cost half the price and are sold in CHAINS outlets.
