Software developer offers help for new, experienced businesses

A CEBU-BASED software development company is offering solutions to help new businesses set up their own website at a minimal cost.

Syrinx Inc. launched last Monday the Syrinx Community Server, a collaboration and networking platform that offers experienced and new entrepreneurs and organizations an efficient way to create and manage Web content without hiring an information technology (IT) expert.

“Filipinos are growing more and more in the online scene. The Syrinx Community Server will help ordinary individuals create and manage their own website without spending for IT assistance,” said Matthew James Denman, Syrinx Inc. lead software architect.

In a press conference, Denman announced that for only P200 monthly, a company can have its own domain hosted by Syrinx with multi-user capability and content management tools that allows uploading of document, images and videos.

“It is as easy as creating blog entries or managing a Friendster account, but with far more superior features and capabilities,” he said.

Since the technology is meant for companies to maintain online presence despite limited financial capabilities, Noble said, a restaurant, for example, that wants to offer delivery service, can update its website to allow customers to post their orders online.

He said the community server can also include a feature that determines “repeat” customers.

Syrinx Inc.’s top clients include Fortune 500 companies like Fedex, IBM, Logility, American Express and the US Department of Energy.

Denman said the company is determined to expand its presence in Cebu and the Philippines by penetrating the small and medium business sector.

He said this year the company is targeting to attract 1,000 small companies and five to ten larger business establishments.

Ricky Ogtip, Syrinx Inc. senior developer, said the company is now negotiating with a local cargo business to manage the latter’s website.

Ogtip said that even religious organizations have expressed interest in community hosting using Syrinx technology.

Syrinx was first established in 1996 by Denman in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The company’s product lines include online accounting and e-commerce solutions, such as SAX Accounting Only, SAX Enterprise and SAX E-Commerce Edition. (MMM)
