THE UNIVERSITY of the Visayas Green Lancers got their acts together in time to beat the hard fighting Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology Skyblazers, 104-94, in the 2008 Visayas Amateur Athletic Association (VAAA) collegiate basketball action at the Cebu Coliseum Tuesday night.
The Lancers nearly wasted a 23-point second quarter lead to the very determined Skyblazers.
From a 34-57 deficit in the 1:43 mark of the second quarter, SCSIT got back using its patented run-and-gun game that enabled it to cut the lead 94-99 in the final 1:42 of the fourth quarter.
The Skyblazers used sheer determination and their accurate three-point shooting to come back into the game just as when everybody has given up on them.
The blitz started when Jeffrey Tampus sank a buzzer beating triple five feet beyond the back court that closed the third period at 69-85. (RCM)
