Marquez to rely on aggression, skills in rematch

WHILE Filipino superstar Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao is targeting a knockout in their much-awaited grudge rematch on March 15, Mexican super featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez will rely on his power, aggression, work rate and technical skills.

Marquez believes he will not be caught again by the southpaw Pacquiao’s thunderous punches even if the Filipino has improved his right hand.

During their first meeting, when he was downed thrice in the first round, Pacquiao’s man arsenal was just his left.

“Manny’s now a two handed fighter and he hits hard, but I’m not going to be surprised and be caught by his left. I’m going to use my power, aggression, work rate and all my technical skill on March 15th. My psychology is: Preparation, condition and my punches,” said the World Boxing super featherweight titleholder in a report posted at boxingscene.com.

The Mexican is prepared and is confident with his experience, great conditioning and physique which he says is the best in his entire career.

“I’m thirty four years old, but I feel twenty five, and as far as experience I’m as smart as a 48-year-old. The important thing for me is supreme conditioning and I’m in the best shape of my entire career, because for me, this is the most important fight of my career,” told Marquez.

Much has improved with Marquez as he has been sparring with Japanese super featherweight Norio Kimura, super bantamweight Eusebio Osejo Cano of Nicaragua and Venezuelan Rafael Fernandez, a featherweight. (EKA)
