Sunday, February 24, 2008 Personality: The positive thing about failure By Dyna Dizon St. Theresa’s College
“TO live life for God” is the motto of a young girl who once tried her luck in the showbiz-oriented Starstruck.
The experience enabled Hazel Agnes S. Uy to prove what she’s capable of doing as she faced the challenges in the search.
She became known to many people after that. Others, however, thought of her as another failure. But they’re wrong.
Hazel is a dedicated Christian and God is her primary inspiration. She has been devoting her time to Bible studies and other church-related activities even before she joined the contest.
Her not winning in the competition had a positive effect on her. The pressure and fear brought about by the contest strengthened her faith in God.
Hazel’s story may just be one of the many stories about a teenager’s quest for fame and the failure to get there. But what makes Hazel’s story different is that it taught her that no matter how hard the fall is, there is always something positive in the experience.
A fall should teach us to stand up, learn from the experience and move on. There is still God’s blessing even in failure.
