Boy runs away from dog, gets run over by bus

A BOY trying to escape from a chasing dog ended up being run over by a bus in the southwestern town of Dumanjug, Cebu last Friday.

Armando Mission, 10, was lucky to emerge alive after the bus’ rear right wheel rolled over the lower half of his body.

Mission, a grade 4 pupil of the Tangil Elementary School, was near the Tangil Wharf past 10 p.m. when the incident happened.

The Allan Transit bus was driven by Domingo Diamos Malang, 44, of Samboan town.

He said he did his best to steer to the left to avoid hitting Mission, but it was too late.

Mission broke his left leg and suffered other injuries. He was taken to the Barili District Hospital.

Later, he was transferred to a hospital in Cebu City.

Malang surrendered to police.

In Barangay Bahay, Sibonga, a seaman died after crashing his motorcycle into a tree.

Marcelino Espina, 32, was coming from Poblacion at past 9 a.m. Thursday when the accident happened.

He was on his way home to Barangay Bagacay when he suddenly swerved to the right side of the road and crashed into a mahogany tree.

He was rushed to the Deparine Medical Clinic in Sibonga town before he was transferred to the South General Hospital in the City of Naga.

There, he was declared dead.

In Barangay Guiwang, Alcoy, a woman riding a bicycle was thrown off when a Ceres bus hit her Friday morning.

The bus, driven by Alfredo Cabutay Dumdum, 45, came from Cebu City and was headed for Oslob town when it hit Eva Mae Lebosada.

She was taken to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, while Dumdum surrendered to police. (MEA)
