Thursday, February 28, 2008 Seares: Bitching about the boss By Pachico A. Seares News Sense
'HE called Presidente GMA ... evil. Evil, po.'--Rodolfo Lozada Jr.
When Cabinet member Romulo Neri said that in a secret meeting last Dec. 7 with two opposition senators and witness Rodolfo Lozada Jr., Neri didn't think it would be repeated on national TV to become a household quote---and set off the current A1, high-grade crisis.
Neri must have sensed the risk. He had reason to trust Jun but how could he have chilled out with, and opened his big mouth to, opposition senators Ping Lacson and Jamby Madrigal?
There's a theory. Neri was trying to persuade the enemy he wasn't an improbable defector worth a few millions in "patriotic money."
At the time, Neri was thinking of fleeing the vipers nest in Pasig and seeking refuge and moderating greed elsewhere.
Ego boost
Who's the employee who hasn't bitched one time or another about his boss? No employer is perfect but President Glo is perfect---perfect target for carping even by her minions.
Shrinks explain that the boss for whom you toil daily, defend or protect in public, is logical to throw darts at, metaphorically or not, in private.
Stress relief and ego booster, shrinks say. Massages ego and unloads stress when you're irreverent or mean for a few seconds about the President to whom you make "sipsip" most working hours all your Palace life.
By the way, on Jun's "Evil, po." "Evil" referred to Glo while the "po" was for Ping who was pushing Jun to answer.
Look how nastiness and politeness can sit in one phrase. Jun slew his ex-boss's reputation without skipping a beat on good manners.
