Saturday, March 01, 2008 'Langoy-langoy' lunges headlong in Dumanjug
THE University of San Carlos high school, Maria Montessori International School and the Borromeo Brothers Elementary School tankers are favored to win in the second Langoy-langoy sa Sugbo swimming competition at the President Diosdado Macapagal Stadium swimming pool in Dumanjug town today.
Visayas Swimming Association official Bas Ceballos yesterday said that those schools are expected to win after a good showing in their last competition at the second Inter-School Age Group at the USC main campus swimming pool last January.
The USC high school bested 21 other schools in their level with 417 points while Ma. Montessori International School and the BBES finished in the top-two spot with 420 and 342.5 points respectively.
Ceballos said that since there are only few participants in the college level, they will open it to other schools.
On the other hand, two other schools were added in the competition with the Cebu International School and the Cebu City Science High School participating in today’s swim meet. A total of 24 competing schools from Cebu City and 102 participants are expected today.
Ceballos said host town Dumanjug, which has an Olympic-sized pool, will also field their best swimmers who are backed by Mayor Cesar Baricuatro.
He said his town also has good swimmers they can count on. They will be competing in the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association on March 24 to April 1 in Tagbilaran City, Bohol with his guidance.
He said that in their next event, new member Bohol Institute of Technology plans to join and host the competition. NSM
