USC, SHSJ to settle grudge

UNIVERSITY of San Carlos (USC) North Campus and Sacred Heart School Jesuits (SHS-J) battle for the mini division crown of the Cebu Youth Basketball League-Hapee Cup today at the City Sports Club Cebu basketball court.

In the midget division on the other hand, University of Cebu and USC South Campus will square off for the crown.

The mini division final battle will showcase USC, a strong defensive team against the SHS-J’s strong inside scoring.

SHS-J Eagles will have vengeance on their minds after USC North Campus hacked the upset axe on them during the elimination round. SHS-J is considered the seeded team in this division since it is the reigning SBP champions of the Milo Best competition.

The Eagles’ charge will be led by its top gunners Reggie Abbu, Adrian Muller and Kiefer Lim.

USC North Campus, on the other hand, which aims to complete a sweep over the Eagles, will be led by Rey Arnejo, John Pajantoy and Tecson Gacrama.

In the midget division, USC North Campus will be up for a gargantuan task as it will be going up against an undefeated UC team.

The two teams have been tightly contesting the top spot during the elimination. When they finally faced each other, UC survived USC North Campus in double overtime, thus taking the pole position.

Expected to lead the carnage for UC are Roger Pogoy, Christian Taboada and Gerald Ampon.

USC South Campus meanwhile, which had a strong outside shooting, will have Dominic and Daryl Nazareno, Joven Sepe and Jake Gabuya to pace the team.

The championship match in the mini division will start at 9:45 a.m., while the midget championship will be at 11. The finals matches follow the battle for third place between Don Bosco and University of Southern Philippine Foundation in the mini division and USC North Campus and USPF in the midget class. (MCB)
