Lawyer loses P100T to robbers

TWO armed men barged inside a lawyer’s office in Rizal St., Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City and took cash and jewelry worth P102,000 yesterday noon.

PO1 Melvin Pelayo of Basak, Mandaue Police said that other than being shocked at what happened, lawyer Shewbee Lao, 33, survived the incident unharmed.

Pelayo said two men armed with handguns forced their way into her office and pointed their guns at her.

One of the suspects ordered her to look down while the other took her jewelry.

The two then pushed her inside the restroom and closed the door before ransacking her bag which contained her cellular phone, cash and some jewelry.

When Lao peeped out of the restroom door she saw that the main door was left open. She ran for the door and out of the house.

Realizing that they no longer had control over Lao, the robbers fled and boarded a vehicle heading north.

Police station

Lao went to the police station to report the incident, and listed down the items taken by the robbers. The list included a gold necklace worth P25,000, another gold bracelet worth P30,000; a ring worth P28,000; a cellular phone worth P16,000, and P3,000 cash.

Pelayo said police are now conducting a follow-up operation to establish the suspects’ background. (OCP)
