CIDG to get new chief; Corpuz awaits transfer

STARTING today, a new director will head the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7.

Senior Supt. Jose Jorge Corpuz’s designation as CIDG 7 officer has been terminated effective Feb. 28.

He has been transferred to the central CIDG office in Camp Crame while waiting for his order to be designated as CIDG 11 chief based in Davao City.

Senior Supt. Zoilo Lachica has been appointed to replace Corpuz.

A turnover of command ceremony has been scheduled at 7:30 a.m. today with Chief Supt. Raul Castañeda of CIDG – Camp Crame as special guest.

Corpuz told reporters yesterday he is thankful for the local government units (LGUs) in Central Visayas particularly Cebu for supporting the CIDG 7.

Corpuz said among the major crimes solved by CIDG 7 under his stint was the arrest and conviction of SPO1 Marcial Ocampo in the killing of Cebu City Bantay Dagat project director Elpidio “Jojo” de la Victoria last April 2006.

The CIDG 7 also filed complaints against suspected fraternity hitman Aristotle Aves for the alleged killing Japanese national Taroh Suda in July last year. (JST)
