Barrita: Pres. Noli
By Eddie O. Barrita
Small Bites

VICE President Noli de Castro said he is “prepared” to take the reins of government in case of a vacancy in the Office of the President.

It’s just a simple compliance of his constitutional duty.

When that happens, they’ll also change protest placards from “Gloria Resign” to “Noli Resign.”

***

Reports said the Vice President has taken crash courses and tutorials.

No, there’s no truth he’s reviewing the alphabet.

He’s studying the demands of the presidency and how to steer the political situation to normalcy immediately if he becomes president.

***

Election lawyer Romulo Makalintal said presidential wannabes are staying away from moves calling for the President’s ouster because they caught the “Noli phobia.”

They knew their chance to become president gets slimmer if they’ll run against a “President Noli.”

So they pray, “Lord, save GMA and deliver us from President Noli.”

***

Former president Corazon Aquino has admitted it may take much longer than previously thought to force President Arroyo out of office.

Well, the Constitution says it’s not much longer than 2010.

By then, no force is even necessary.

***

Sen. Gringo Honasan, who led several bloody coup attempts against then president Aquino, cautioned anti-Arroyo groups not to be rash in drawing the military into the country’s current political crisis.

Sowing division in the military and the police, he warned, could be bloody this time around.
Listen to the voice of experience.

***

Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal has questioned the mounting pressure on bishops to call for the President’s resignation which he considers “a political decision and action.”

The opposition can do that, he said, and he’s not in the opposition nor is he pro-administration.

Maybe, these groups have missed the outspoken Cardinal Sin. Then they should be patient and wait until another Cardinal Sin is born.
