Jeepney dispatcher shot after argument

AN argument between two men and a jeepney dispatcher turned bloody after the suspects engaged the victim in a fistfight then later shot him dead.

PO3 Robert Pelayo of the Mandaue City Police Station 1 said the incident happened along M. C. Briones Highway, in front of a pharmacy in Barangay Guizo early yesterday morning.

He said the victim Jerome Guba, whose address still remains unknown as of press time, sustained three gunshot wounds – in the left chest, left shoulder and left thigh.

Police have yet to establish the identities of the perpetrators.

The victim was wearing a red shirt, denim jeans and black slippers when he was shot.

Police said personal grudge may be a possible motive of killing, as some bystanders alleged that the parties first had an argument before one of them engaged Guba in a fistfight.

Suddenly, the other suspect pulled a gun and shot the victim three times.

The suspects casually crossed the street right after the incident.

According to radio dyAB report, the victim left in 2002 and had just returned recently to work as a barker in that area, where most north-bound utility jeeps stop by to pick up passengers. (OCP)
